Seagate BarraCuda 500GB Desktop Internal Hard Drive (ST500DM009) — 7200 RPM, 32MB Cache, 3.5-inch SATA

The Seagate BarraCuda 500GB (ST500DM009) is a 3.5-inch SATA internal hard drive for desktop PCs. With a 7200 RPM spindle and 32MB cache, it adds affordable capacity for games, media libraries and everyday files.

Deep-Dive Story & Problem/Solution

Running Out of Space on Your PC

Modern games, 4K video and photo libraries fill SSDs fast, and high-capacity SSDs still cost more per terabyte. Deleting files or juggling external drives wastes time and puts data at risk.

The ST500DM009 solves that with 500GB of internal storage at hard-drive cost per terabyte. Keep your operating system and favourite apps on an SSD, and move game libraries, media and backups to the BarraCuda for a fast, roomy setup.

This model uses CMR recording, giving consistent write performance for large file copies and everyday desktop workloads.

Multi-Tier Caching Technology

Seagate’s Multi-Tier Caching Technology manages data flow across cache layers so common tasks — loading games, opening projects, copying folders — feel quicker. The 32MB cache further smooths reads and writes.

Simple Upgrade for Almost Any Desktop

The standard 3.5-inch form factor and SATA 6Gb/s interface fit virtually every desktop tower, and the drive is backward compatible with older SATA 3Gb/s ports.
