Toshiba X300 Pro 12TB Hard Drive (HDWR51CXZSTB) — 300 TB/Year CMR for Workstations & Creators

Workstation-grade desktop storage built for heavy creative and professional workloads.

The Toshiba X300 Pro 12TB (HDWR51CXZSTB) is a 3.5-inch SATA hard drive for professional desktop workstations, multimedia design systems and high-end gaming PCs. It combines CMR recording, a 7200 RPM spindle and a 512MB cache with a 300 TB/year workload rating for users who move large files every day.

Why Professional Workloads Wear Out Ordinary Desktop Drives

Typical desktop hard drives are designed for light, intermittent use. Video editors, 3D artists and photographers work differently: they write and re-read hundreds of gigabytes a day, keep large projects open for hours, and archive finished work to the same drive. That sustained load is where consumer drives slow down or wear out early.

The X300 Pro 12TB is specified for that workload. Toshiba rates it for up to 300 TB of data per year and 1,000,000 hours MTTF, a higher rating than the standard X300. CMR recording keeps write speed consistent during long transfers instead of slowing as SMR drives can.

Fast Access for Large Media Projects

A 7200 RPM spindle and 512MB cache, managed by Toshiba Cache Technology, shorten response time when loading large timelines, texture libraries or photo catalogues, and keep sustained transfers steady during long imports and exports.

Efficient, Protected Helium Design

The helium-sealed enclosure lowers drag on the platters, holding power at 6.85 W operating and 3.3 W active idle with about 20 dB idle noise. Ramp loading and a built-in shock sensor help protect the heads and stored data.
