Catalyst 9000 enterprise switching with fixed uplinks, built for branch and mid-size access closets.
The Cisco C9200L-24P-4G-E is a 24-port Gigabit PoE+ switch from the Cisco Catalyst 9200L Series, with 4 x 1G SFP fixed uplinks and a 370W PoE+ budget. It runs Cisco IOS XE with the Network Essentials license, for enterprises, campuses and branches that need Layer 2/Layer 3 access switching with security and automation built in.
What the C9200L-24P-4G-E Solves in a Modern Access Network
Access switches now carry far more than desktop traffic: Wi-Fi 6 access points, IP phones, cameras and IoT devices all connect at the edge, and each one is a potential security gap. Older or entry-level switches struggle with that mix, offering limited segmentation, no programmability and little visibility into what is connected.
The C9200L-24P-4G-E runs Cisco IOS XE, the same operating system used across the Catalyst 9000 family, so policies, templates and automation tools stay consistent from branch to campus. With the Network Essentials license it provides Layer 2 and foundational Layer 3 switching: static routing, RIP, OSPF routed access, VLANs, QoS, 802.1X and automation, giving you Layer 2/Layer 3 capabilities at the access layer.
Security and resilience are built into the hardware: secure boot and trustworthy systems validate the software image at startup, 802.1X and MACsec-ready ports protect the edge, and second power supply slot for redundancy plus fixed redundant fans keep the switch running if a component fails.
370W PoE+ for Wi-Fi, Phones and Cameras
The C9200L-24P-4G-E delivers IEEE 802.3at PoE+ at up to 30W per port from a 370W budget with the default PWR-C5-600WAC (600W) supply. Perpetual PoE keeps connected devices powered during a switch reload, so phones and cameras do not drop when you upgrade software.
Fixed Uplinks and Stacking for Cost-Effective Growth
Fixed 4 x 1G SFP uplinks keep the purchase simple, with no separate module to buy. With the optional stack kit, StackWise-80 (80 Gbps) connects up to eight switches that are managed as one, so adding ports does not add management overhead.
How to Set Up the Cisco C9200L-24P-4G-E
- Rack-mount the switch in a 19-inch rack, install the power supply (and a second supply if used for redundancy), and connect power.
- Insert SFP optics into the fixed uplink ports and connect them to your distribution or core switch.
- Connect through the console port or use the Day 0 WebUI to set the hostname, management IP, credentials and license level, then upgrade to the recommended Cisco IOS XE release.
- Configure VLANs, PoE policies, 802.1X, QoS and stacking, then onboard the switch into Cisco Catalyst Center or your management platform if you use one.
