The Cisco Firepower 1140 (FPR1140-ASA-K9) is a 1RU security appliance that ships with Cisco ASA software, delivering 6 Gbps of stateful firewall throughput and 1.2 Gbps of IPsec VPN. It suits mid-sized businesses, branch offices and internet edges that want ASA reliability with 8 copper and 4 SFP ports.

The appliance fits a single rack unit with an integrated AC power supply and a 200 GB SSD for logs and images. Active/standby high availability is supported when paired with a second identical unit.

How to Set Up the Cisco Firepower 1140 with ASA

1. Rack-mount the appliance, connect power, and connect the management port and your WAN and LAN interfaces.
2. Connect to the console port or open ASDM from a browser on the management network, and set the hostname, passwords and interface IP addresses.
3. Configure NAT, access rules and routing, then set up site-to-site or AnyConnect VPN as needed, and activate any licenses through Smart Licensing.
4. Upgrade to the recommended ASA release, configure logging and backups, and add a second unit for failover if required.
