Seagate FireCuda 2TB Gaming SSHD (ST2000LX001) — 8GB NAND Flash Hybrid Drive for Laptops & Consoles

The Seagate FireCuda 2TB (ST2000LX001) is a 2.5-inch, 7mm solid state hybrid drive (SSHD) that pairs 2TB of hard-drive capacity with 8GB of MLC NAND flash. It speeds up game and app loading in laptops and consoles while keeping cost per gigabyte low.

Deep-Dive Story & Problem/Solution

The Speed-vs-Capacity Trade-Off

Hard drives offer large capacity but slow load times; SSDs are fast but cost more per terabyte. Gamers and laptop users often have to choose between a big library and quick loading.

The FireCuda SSHD combines both. Its Adaptive Memory Technology learns which files you use most and keeps them in the 8GB flash layer, so frequently played games and boot files load faster, while the 2TB platters store the rest of your library.

Adaptive Memory Technology

Caching happens automatically in the drive firmware — no drivers or software needed — so performance improves the more you use your favourite games and apps.

Drop-In Upgrade for Laptops and PS4

The 7mm, 2.5-inch SATA design fits most laptops and the PlayStation 4, making it a straightforward upgrade over the original hard drive.
