The Arista XVR-10163-20 is the Arista QSFP-100G-CWDM4 transceiver, a 100GBASE-CWDM4 QSFP100 optic that carries 100 Gbps over duplex single-mode fiber for up to 2 km. It suits data center spine-leaf and campus core links between Arista switches with standard LC cabling.
Connecting 100G Switches Beyond Multimode Distances
100G links between racks, rows or buildings often exceed the 100 m reach of SR4 optics on multimode fiber. Parallel optics also need 8-fiber MPO cabling, which many sites do not have.
The QSFP-100G-CWDM4 combines four 25G lanes on different wavelengths near 1310 nm onto one duplex single-mode fiber pair, reaching up to 2 km with standard LC connectors. That reuses existing duplex fiber infrastructure and simplifies patching.
As an Arista-coded optic, it is recognized by Arista EOS, reports digital diagnostics and avoids third-party transceiver warnings.
Duplex LC Single-Mode Design
Using duplex LC instead of MPO lowers cabling cost and lets 100G run over the same single-mode fiber used for 10G LR links, up to 2 km.
Hot-Swappable with Diagnostics
The module can be inserted or removed while the switch runs, and EOS reports temperature, voltage and per-lane optical power for troubleshooting.
How to Install the Arista XVR-10163-20
- Confirm both switch ports support 100GBASE-CWDM4 QSFP100 optics and the fiber run is single-mode under 2 km.
- Insert the transceiver into the QSFP port until it latches.
- Clean and connect a duplex LC single-mode patch cord, crossing transmit and receive.
- Verify link status and optical levels with “show interfaces transceiver” in EOS.
