The HPE C8R25B is a 10GBASE-SR (iSCSI) SFP+ transceiver pack (4 modules) that carries 10 Gbps over multimode fiber at 850 nm with a duplex LC connector. It is designed for HPE MSA 1040, 2040, 2050 and 2052 storage arrays with 10Gb iSCSI or SFP+ converged ports, reaching up to 300 m on OM3 multimode fiber.
Why Matching Optics Matter for Stable Fiber Links
Storage networks depend on stable, low-error links between servers and arrays. Unqualified optics in an HPE MSA can be rejected by the controller or cause intermittent path failures that trigger failovers and slow applications.
The C8R25B follows the IEEE 10GBASE-SR standard at 850 nm, so it interoperates with any compliant optic at the other end of the link, and as a genuine HPE part it is recognized by HPE firmware without workarounds.
The 4-pack covers the host ports of an MSA controller pair, so every path uses the same qualified optic and troubleshooting stays simple.
Built for HPE MSA iSCSI Storage
The C8R25B is the HPE-qualified 10Gb short-wave SFP+ for MSA arrays, used on 10Gb iSCSI host ports and converged SFP+ ports set to iSCSI mode. Use OM3 or OM4 multimode fiber for best reach.
Hot-Swappable with Diagnostics
The module can be inserted or removed while the device is running. Supported HPE switches report optical diagnostics such as transmit and receive power, which help find dirty connectors or damaged fiber.
How to Install the HPE C8R25B
- Confirm the host port supports 10GBASE-SR (iSCSI) SFP+ modules and that the other end of the link uses a matching optic.
- Remove the dust plug and slide the transceiver into the port until it latches.
- Clean the LC connectors and connect a multimode OM3/OM4 duplex patch cord, crossing transmit and receive.
- Verify link status and optical levels from the switch or array management interface.
