It uses the LGA2066 (Socket R4) socket, supports DDR4-2933 ECC memory (4 channels (up to 1TB)) and is designed for professional workstations used for rendering, simulation and CAD.
Workstation Power for Rendering, Simulation and CAD – Intel Xeon W-2295
Professional workloads such as rendering, simulation, CAD and large code builds need more cores, more memory and more reliability than mainstream desktops offer. Consumer platforms top out on memory capacity and lack ECC support, which becomes a real risk on long-running jobs.
The Xeon W-2295 provides 18 cores and 36 threads, quad-channel DDR4-2933 ECC memory up to 1TB, and 48 lanes PCIe 3.0 for multiple GPUs, NVMe drives and capture cards. Turbo Boost Max 3.0 lifts its fastest cores up to 4.8 GHz for lightly threaded modeling and CAD work.
It drops into LGA2066 workstations built on the Intel C422 chipset, making it a cost-effective upgrade for systems such as the Dell Precision 5820, HP Z4 G4 and Lenovo ThinkStation P520.
18 Cores With Turbo Boost up to 4.6 GHz
The Xeon W-2295 balances core count and clock speed. Turbo Boost raises individual cores up to 4.6 GHz when workloads need responsiveness, while all 18 cores work together on parallel tasks such as virtualization, backups and compiling.
ECC Memory, AVX-512 and 48 PCIe Lanes
ECC memory protects long-running renders and simulations, AVX-512 and DL Boost accelerate scientific and AI workloads, and 48 PCIe 3.0 lanes support multiple GPUs and NVMe drives at full bandwidth.
Setup Instructions
How to Install the Intel Xeon W-2295
- Confirm your system board uses the LGA2066 (Socket R4) socket with the Intel C422 chipset, and update the BIOS to a version that lists the Xeon W-2295 as supported.
- Open the two socket retention levers in the order marked on the socket, lift the load plate, align the notches on the Xeon W-2295 with the socket keys, and lower it straight down. Close the load plate and both levers.
- Apply thermal paste and mount an LGA2066-compatible cooler or server heatsink rated for 165W.
- Install ECC memory following the board’s channel population guide, power on, confirm the processor and memory are detected in the BIOS or BMC, then install your operating system or hypervisor.
