The Zippy R2W-6500P is a 500W redundant power supply assembly supplied with its cage and two R2W-6500P-R hot-swap modules (Zippy part 2000840135). It provides 24-pin ATX, 12V and 12-pin auxiliary outputs. It suits servers, workstations, POS back-ends and custom systems that must stay powered if a module fails.
Building Redundant Power Into a Critical System
A single power supply is a single point of failure. In a server, storage appliance or control system, one failed unit stops everything until someone replaces it.
The R2W-6500P uses two 500W modules in one cage. Both share the load during normal operation, and either can run the system alone. If one fails, the system keeps running and signals the fault, and the failed module can be swapped without a shutdown.
Complete Assembly, Ready to Install
The package includes the cage and two R2W-6500P-R modules. The cage mounts in an ATX-style PSU opening that supports redundant units, and its 24-pin ATX, 12V and 12-pin auxiliary outputs connect to the motherboard and peripherals.
Proven Zippy Reliability
Zippy redundant supplies are widely used in industrial and server systems. Each module has its own cooling fan and protection circuits, and the cage manages load sharing and failover between them.
Setup Instructions
How to Install the Zippy R2W-6500P Assembly
- Confirm your chassis has a PSU opening sized for a Zippy redundant cage and that your board uses 24-pin ATX power.
- Shut down and unplug the system, remove the old supply, and mount the R2W-6500P cage with the chassis screws.
- Connect the 24-pin ATX, 12V CPU and auxiliary outputs to the motherboard and devices, then insert both R2W-6500P-R modules until they latch.
- Connect AC cords to both modules, power on and confirm both module LEDs show normal operation and no alarm sounds.
