The Seagate Nytro 1351 960GB is a 2.5-inch, 7mm SATA 6Gb/s enterprise SSD built on 3D TLC NAND. It is designed for read-intensive data center workloads such as boot volumes, web serving, virtualization and content delivery, delivering steady low-latency performance in standard SATA server bays at a lower cost than SAS or NVMe.
Why Consumer SSDs and Hard Drives Underperform in Servers
Hard drives limit busy servers to a few hundred IOPS, while consumer SSDs are tuned for short bursts and often lose consistency under sustained, 24/7 mixed workloads. Neither is a good fit for production boot volumes, VM stores or web content tiers.
The Nytro 1351 is built for steady-state enterprise duty. Its firmware is tuned for consistent latency rather than burst benchmarks, and its endurance and data-protection features are designed for always-on servers, giving IT teams a reliable, cost-effective SATA tier.
Consistent Performance for Read-Heavy Server Workloads
With up to 90,000 random read IOPS and 560MB/s sequential read, the Nytro 1351 accelerates virtual machine boot storms, web content delivery and analytics reads. Performance stays predictable over long periods rather than dropping after a burst.
Simple Drop-In Upgrade for SATA Servers
Because it uses the standard SATA interface and 2.5-inch, 7mm form factor, the drive installs in existing server carriers and works with common HBAs and RAID controllers. No new backplane or driver is needed.
Setup Instructions
How to Install the Seagate Nytro 1351 960GB SATA SSD
- Back up data and check your server’s compatibility guidance for third-party SATA SSDs.
- Mount the SSD in a 2.5-inch drive carrier (or a 3.5-inch adapter bracket if required).
- Insert the carrier into a free SATA/SAS bay; hot-plug if your backplane supports it.
- Configure the drive in your RAID controller or operating system and create the volume.
