The Seagate BarraCuda Q1 480GB is a 2.5-inch, 7mm SATA III SSD that replaces a laptop or desktop hard drive. Built on 3D QLC NAND, it reads at up to 550MB/s and writes at up to 500MB/s, cutting boot and load times for budget-conscious users upgrading older systems.
Why Old Hard Drives Make PCs Feel Slow
Most slow older PCs are not limited by the CPU; they are waiting on a hard drive. Spinning disks take milliseconds to seek each file, so boots, Windows updates and app launches drag on.
The BarraCuda Q1 replaces that drive with flash storage that accesses data almost instantly. Because it uses the same 2.5-inch SATA form factor as laptop hard drives, it is a straightforward swap that delivers the biggest responsiveness gain per dollar for aging systems.
Everyday Speed Upgrade
With up to 550MB/s reads, the Q1 boots Windows in seconds and opens browsers, Office apps and games much faster than a hard drive. Random access improvements are even larger than the sequential numbers suggest.
Fits Nearly Any PC
The 7mm 2.5-inch body fits slim laptops, and desktop users can mount it in a 2.5-inch bay or adapter. It runs silently with no moving parts and draws little power.
