The MSI B650 Gaming Plus WiFi is an ATX motherboard for AMD Socket AM5 built on the B650 chipset. It supports DDR5 up to 256GB, two PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSDs, 2.5G LAN and Wi-Fi 6E. It fits gamers and home-office users building a Ryzen system that balances current features against budget.
Getting onto AM5 Without Overspending
Many buyers moving from AM4 assume they need an X670 or X870 board. For most gaming and productivity builds, PCIe 5.0 graphics and USB4 add cost without a measurable benefit today, because current graphics cards perform the same on PCIe 4.0.
The B650 Gaming Plus WiFi puts the budget where it matters: a full PCIe 4.0 x16 graphics slot, two Gen4 x4 M.2 slots, four SATA ports and DDR5 support up to 6400 MT/s with EXPO kits. It keeps the AM5 socket, so you can drop in a newer Ryzen processor later with a BIOS update.
Balanced Storage and Expansion
The board provides one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, one PCIe 4.0 x4 slot and one PCIe 3.0 x1 slot. Two Gen4 x4 M.2 slots and four SATA 6Gb/s ports cover NVMe boot drives, secondary SSDs and hard drives without sharing bandwidth problems in typical builds.
Networking and Rear I/O Built for Daily Use
A Realtek 2.5G LAN controller and Wi-Fi 6E module handle both wired and wireless connections. The rear panel includes a 20Gbps USB-C port, multiple 10Gbps and 5Gbps USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4, plus Realtek ALC897 audio.
