The ASUS TUF Gaming Z890-Pro WiFi (part 90MB1IR0-M0EAY0) is an ATX motherboard for Intel Core Ultra 200S processors on Socket LGA 1851. It offers DDR5 up to 256GB, PCIe 5.0 graphics and storage, two Thunderbolt 4 ports and Wi-Fi 7. It suits gamers and creators who want reliable components without flagship pricing.
Why Core Ultra Builds Need a Z890 Board
Intel Core Ultra 200S processors use the new LGA 1851 socket, so older LGA 1700 boards (Z790, B760) cannot be reused. Z890 is the chipset that unlocks CPU and memory overclocking and provides the most PCIe lanes on this platform.
The TUF Gaming Z890-Pro WiFi uses a 16+1+2+1 power-stage design rated at 80A per stage, with large heatsinks, so unlocked K-series processors hold boost clocks during long renders and gaming sessions. TUF components are selected for durability rather than RGB and cosmetics.
Thunderbolt 4 and PCIe 5.0 Connectivity
Two rear Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports provide 40Gbps connections and DisplayPort output, which is uncommon at this price. The primary x16 slot runs at PCIe 5.0 from the CPU, and one M.2 slot supports PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe SSDs.
Storage and Expansion Layout
Four M.2 slots (one Gen5, three Gen4, one with SATA support) and four SATA ports hold plenty of storage. Expansion includes a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot running at x4, a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot and two PCIe 4.0 x1 slots. Realtek ALC1220P 7.1 audio handles headsets and speakers.
