The Supermicro MBD-X11SCH-F-O is a Micro-ATX server motherboard for Intel Xeon E-2100/E-2200 and 8th/9th Gen Core processors on the C246 chipset. It supports up to 128GB of DDR4 ECC memory, eight SATA3 ports, two M.2 NVMe slots, dual Intel Gigabit LAN and IPMI. It suits NAS builders, small businesses and homelabs.
Server Reliability for Small and Home Servers
Desktop motherboards used as home or office servers lack ECC memory support, remote management and enough SATA ports. Every visit to the machine for a reboot or BIOS change costs time, and a memory error can corrupt data without warning.
The X11SCH-F supports ECC UDIMMs up to 128GB, so memory errors are corrected instead of written to disk. Its ASPEED AST2500 BMC provides IPMI 2.0 with KVM-over-LAN, letting you power-cycle, view the console and install an OS remotely.
Storage Built for NAS and File Servers
Eight SATA3 ports from the C246 chipset support RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10, and two M.2 slots (PCIe 3.0 x4, 2280/22110) handle boot or cache SSDs. This suits TrueNAS, Unraid and Windows Server builds without an extra HBA.
Efficient, Compact Platform
Xeon E processors up to 95W TDP and 8 cores/16 threads keep power draw low for 24/7 operation. Two PCIe 3.0 x8 slots accept a 10GbE NIC or HBA, and the Micro-ATX size (9.6 x 9.6 inches) fits compact server and NAS cases.
